Due to really poor time management, I was only able to use the last day of the jam in order to create the track, but I'm pretty proud of the result!
The live aspect of this track is the piano, which is frankenstein-ed out of multiple recordings of me playing different parts of the piece. I thought it would be cool to juxtapose it with extremely electronic production for everything else, and I think it turned out great!
The original idea (which ended up being a short part of the track) I had was to try to create a romantic and/or expressionistic piano piece, and then build upon it with the rest of the production. The feeling (or "story") the piece was trying to express is growing dread, kind of like someone is on the verge of crying as he's feeling everything crumble around him (very dramatic, I know, but that's how it is with romantic era pieces). It's kind of based off of some bad days I've been having lately, but of course very exaggerated. With the production, it turned out to sound kind of like a very dramatic computer getting corrupted and/or shutting down, which I really like.
Some music theory - I tried to make a significant use of the Lydian #5 scale, since it seemed fitting for an expressionistic piece (kind of like the Debussy piece in the whole-tone scale). As a result of that, I used a lot of augmented and major b5 chords, which are both real favorites of mine. The melody and structure are kind of odd and very different from what I'm used to, but I'm actually pretty proud of myself for going out of my comfort zone.

Anyway, I hope you like it, and have a great rest of the day!
